Workers Compensation: Your Safety Net

About Me

Workers Compensation: Your Safety Net

You put your heart and soul into your job, so it seems only fair that you should be protected from harm while you’re there. Most good employers do go out of their way to provide safety training and equipment to keep their workers safe and protected from any hazards. Federal agencies, like the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, also have standards in place for employers to follow to keep their workers safe. However, sometimes accidents happen anyway, and when they do, workers compensation is meant to be your safety net. Most of the time, if you follow your company’s procedures for filing a workers compensation claim, you’ll be paid with no trouble. However, I know from experience that it isn’t always that easy. I started this blog to help you learn what to do when your company or their insurance company denies your workers compensation claim.

A Personal Injury Attorney Can Help You Get What You Deserve

If you have gotten into a car accident and been injured, then either your insurance of the insurance of the other driver should pay for your medical care as well as other things. However, if there is a problem with the insurance that the other driver had, or if the insurance won't cover things you need like money for lost wages or pain and suffering, then you may have a problem. That's when you have to go find someone who can help you with your problems. That's when you can go to a personal injury attorney and get some help from them.

Contingency

You may be worried about trying to come up with the fee to see the lawyer and to pay them to take your case. However, many personal injury lawyers will work on a contingency basis. That means that they won't take any upfront payments. Instead, what they are going to do is take a percentage out of your settlement when you win your case. What that percentage is depends on a lot of things, including what state you live in. However, generally, the contingency fee is usually right around 30% of your settlement. With the lawyer working on a contingency basis, you can be pretty sure that they are confident that they are going win your case.

Negotiation

One way that the lawyer can make the settlement happen faster is that they will be able to negotiate with the insurance companies and with the other driver on your behalf. That negotiation can do a lot of things. For one thing, it can get you your settlement a lot faster than if you were to go to court. No one wants to go to court. It's going to take a lot of time and cost a lot of money for everyone. Then there's no guarantee as to how the court case is going to go, and most people don't like taking risks. Having your lawyer do all the negotiating for you will also make it more likely that you are going to get a settlement that is more than you might have otherwise expected.

If you have been in a car accident, then you may have had to deal with a lot of injuries that can cost you a lot of money. You may need to have the help of a personal injury attorney so you can get what you deserve.
